I spent my formative years living in the archipelago of Indonesia, a setting that deeply shaped how I experience the world. I remember the thunderstorms that would roll in every afternoon, how the light would change, the smell of wet earth and the calm that would come with the sound of the rain. That same feeling is what I set out to capture with these images. By abstracting the flora of the desert from its immediate surroundings, I found that its beauty emerged in an entirely different way, capturing those peace-filled moments from my childhood.
